facebook-scriptPrinoth: Alpine power and innovation from South Tyrol

From the mountains of South Tyrol to the end of the world

Prinoth embodies the alpine competence of South Tyrol/Südtirol like almost none other: for 60 years, the company has been developing technologies for the most extreme conditions—from the Alps all the way to Antarctica. As the world’s leading producer of snow groomers, Prinoth sets standards for innovation and sustainability with a mix of digital expertise, clean engine technology, and the first electric snow groomer ready for series production.

Pioneering spirit meets high tech

The origins of Prinoth lie in the pioneering spirit of Ernst Prinoth. A former Formula One driver, he combined his passion for power cars with technical know-how and developed the first snow groomer in his workshop in the 1960s. This idea gave rise to the company, which is now part of the HTI (High Technology Industries) group of companies and among the leading producers of snow groomers and tracked vehicles worldwide. In 2022, Prinoth presented the first electric snow groomer ready for series production: The Husky E-Motion became a symbol for innovation and sustainability in the industry, helping ski resorts worldwide to achieve their carbon goals—a milestone for sustainable alpine mobility.

Innovation, creativity, and sustainability are at the heart of the company’s philosophy. At the research and development facility in Sterzing/Vipiteno, engineers are continuously working on new solutions—from clean drives and digital fleet management systems to technologies to save energy and avoid emissions.

The Norwegian Polar Institute, too, relies on Prinoth’s expertise: during the modernisation of its research station Troll in Antarctica, ten Panther XL vehicles were acquired. The job of these vehicles is to transport loads of up to 150 tonnes for several days at a time, braving snow, ice, and storm in the process—reliably, safely, and efficiently.

Technical know-how and excellence for customers worldwide

President and CEO Klaus Tonhäuser believes that the Antarctica project represents in a nutshell what Prinoth stands for: technology which combines strength, efficiency, and innovative power. “The fact that our vehicles perform reliably even in one of the most extreme climates of the earth bears testament to our group-wide competence and our ambition to develop only the best solutions for our customers.” Whether on ski slopes, boglands, or in the coldest place on earth: Prinoth delivers performance exactly where it is needed.
