Top brands for all mountain requirements

The Oberalp Group stands for alpine expertise that redefines the mountain sports experience. Heiner Oberrauch founded the company in Bolzano/Bozen in 1981 as an importer of sporting goods. The son of the Oberrauch-Zitt textile company quickly recognised the potential of the Salewa brand, developed a first collection of his own and built it up to become the first strong brand in the portfolio. This has been expanded over the years to include DYNAFIT, POMOCA, Wild Country, Evolv and LaMunt. Today, Oberalp is a management-run family business and is one of the leading international suppliers of high-end mountain sports equipment - with around 1,200 employees in eleven countries.

LaMunt - By women for women

Technological precision, innovative strength and sustainability form the basis of all Oberalp Group brands. With LaMunt, the company launched its first brand in 2022 that was developed entirely in-house, opening up a new female perspective on the mountains. "With LaMunt, we have launched the first brand that was not bought in and then developed further, but was born within the Oberalp Group and was conceived entirely from a woman's perspective," says Ruth Oberrauch, Vice President of the Oberalp Group and founder of the brand. The focus is on the specific requirements of mountain sports clothing for women. And as a community brand, LaMunt actively involves women in the development of products and brand building.  The products combine technical performance with customised solutions that adapt to the female anatomy and specifically support freedom of movement.

Tradition and responsibility

The name LaMunt comes from Ladin, the Rhaeto-Romanic language that was also spoken by Ruth Oberrauch's grandmother. It's interesting to note that in Ladin, the mountain is feminine - LaMunt. This cultural anchoring emphasises the conceptual approach of the brand and its connection to the Dolomites. Sustainability is also an integral part of LaMunt and is taken into account in the design phase and the selection of materials in the supply chain. The Oberalp Group is committed to sustainability. The company has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation since 2013 to ensure fair working conditions along the entire supply chain. The company has been calculating its corporate carbon footprint since 2024 and has set itself the goal of reducing emissions by 50% by 2030.  Using the annual sustainability report "Contribute", which has been published since 2018, Oberalp provides transparency on targets and progress. This long-term commitment stands for a clear entrepreneurial attitude: responsibility towards the environment and people goes hand in hand with technological innovation.
