Pioneer of modern timber construction
For almost 100 years, the family-owned Rubner company from Kiens/Chienes has shown that ecological construction and technological excellence are fully compatible. What began as a water-powered saw mill in 1926 is now a leading European timber construction specialist. 1,500 employees in 18 locations oversee the entire value chain—from the regional tree stock to the international construction project. The group is divided into four business areas: timber industry, timber engineering, timber construction, and timber doors and windows. With a pioneering spirit, innovative power, and sustainable responsibility, Rubner has left a clear mark on timber construction and professionalised the industry—far beyond the borders of South Tyrol/Südtirol.
Sustainability as guiding principle
Its most recent milestones include the Roots building in Hamburg, the New Sydney Fish Market in Australia, and the TUM Sport Campus at the Olympic Park in Munich. The new location of Rubner Türen is currently being established at the headquarters while the company’s largest-scale project to date is being prepared in Rosenheim.
Sustainability is not a buzz word to Rubner. It is a guiding principle. The company relied on water-based paint and coating as well as ecological insulating materials at a very early stage and is now investing specifically in emission-reduction processes. This responsibility permeates the entire value chain—from purchasing the raw materials to production and construction methods.

Climate-resilient buildings for living and working
The key to its success is in its clear stance: wood is sourced from sustainably managed regional forests, processed with precision, and used in innovative construction projects worldwide. That is how Rubner is building a climate-resilient life and work environment while serving as a prime example of South Tyrol’s green future competence.
